Mission
The primary purpose for the Center of Far Rockaway is as a soup kitchen and food pantry to feed and care for those experieincing food insecuirty in the Far Rockaway area.The Mission of the Center is to provide meals and food items to food insecuirty families and individuals in the Far Rockaway, Long Island Area. Over the course of the 2021-2022 fiscal year, a staggering 19,572 individuals including children, adults, and senior citizens received hot meals. An additional 4,980 food packages were also distributed, which provided families with enough food to prepare meals for 2-3 days. Among these families, 38.8% were children, 45.7% were adults, and 15.5% were senior citizens. Apart from the soup kitchen and food pantry, clothing and toy drives were held periodically throughout the year.
